Thriller Hen Party Dance Class Brighton

Book a Thriller hen party dance class in Brighton and you get the one piece of choreography most of the group has already attempted at a wedding reception. Your instructor writes their own material and cuts it to fit the hens in the room rather than handing over something off a shelf, in one of four spaces we hire around town or at your weekend house, for one fee of £175 plus the venue.

The eighties theme with real muscle memory behind it.

Half the room has done this before

There is no other theme where a chunk of the party arrives already knowing the shapes. School discos, Halloween nights, somebody's fortieth — the material has been in circulation for four decades and it shows the moment the music starts. That is a genuine advantage for a dance hen party: confidence arrives early, the nervous ones have something familiar to copy, and the group hits a recognisable look far sooner than it would with anything unfamiliar. Bookings spike hard around October on our Brighton hen party themes list, though the theme runs perfectly well in June and a decent share of our parties prove it every summer.

Not the version off the internet

What you will not get is a note-for-note reconstruction learned from a video, because every Dance Brighton instructor choreographs their own material. The flavour is unmistakably eighties horror-pop — the stalk, the shoulders, the sudden unison snap — but the routine itself is written by your teacher and reshaped live around whoever is in front of them. Some parties get a full monster-movie treatment with a bit of acting bolted on; some want the steps and none of the theatre at all. That gets agreed on the day, and nothing about the order is promised in advance.

The bride, and what usually follows

A spotlight moment is offered and about half the brides take it. Groups who want the decade without the horror move on to the 80s class; those who liked dancing in unison and want it sharper try Street Dance. A fair few hens also end up on the interest list for our weekly classes in Brighton, having decided at a hen do dance class that once a year is nowhere near enough.

–A rough running order

A Thriller ninety,
sketched loosely.

The warm-up loosens shoulders and necks, which this theme punishes you for skipping. The routine then comes in short unison blocks, each drilled until the timing is genuinely together rather than approximately together, because the snap is the entire point. How much character work gets layered on, from a slow stalking entrance to full undead commitment, is negotiated between your teacher and the room as it goes along. The closing minutes usually go to a full-speed run while somebody films. That describes the usual rather than committing to anything; each teacher runs their own clock in their own way.

Seventeen of us on an October hen do and every single one had done a version of this at some point. Getting it actually in time was the new bit.

The teacher spent ten minutes purely on the snap at the end and it was worth every second. The video looks like we had rehearsed for weeks.

We asked for zero acting and the teacher just quietly dropped it. Still felt like the real thing by the end.

Thriller, answered.

Common ground covered before anyone books this hen party activity.

Do we learn the original video routine?+

Not step for step. Every instructor choreographs their own material, so what you learn is written by your teacher in the same eighties horror-pop language rather than reconstructed off a screen. It reads exactly the way you would hope it does.

Is it only a Halloween booking?+

October is busy, but we teach it all year and plenty of summer hens pick it purely because it is the routine they have always wanted to get right. Nothing about the class depends on the season.

Do we need face paint and costumes?+

Only if it appeals. Face paint, costumes and shoes are all yours to organise; we hand none of it out. Plenty of parties skip the lot and dance in whatever they arrived in.

Can absolute beginners manage the routine?+

No experience is needed. Unison material like this is far easier than it looks, because everybody is doing the same thing at the same time, and your teacher builds it in pieces short enough to hold on to.

What happens to the price with a big group?+

Not a penny changes. Whether nine hens come or twenty-nine, ninety minutes holds at £175 plus the venue and sixty at £150 plus the venue. The only thing that scales is the room we hire.

Will we get a video out of it?+

Almost certainly. This is one of the themes where groups film first and go for a drink second. Your teacher decides how things close, but the phones normally get one clean run at it.

Where does the class take place?+

There are four: Madeira Drive on the front, North Road a minute from the station in North Laine, Mermaid Walk at the Marina and Montpelier Road towards Hove. All are rooms we hire rather than own, and yours is named on the booking. Failing that, we drive to your hen house anywhere in Sussex.
